Silverleaf Resorts - Endless Escape and Settlments--and me
by Kevin Stoda, Oman
Silverleaf has had a checkered history with me--but generally it has been a positive story.
Silverleaf Resorts have been bought out several times over the past decade and a half. Currently, it is owned by an arm of Holiday Inn.
When I bought on to Silverleaf Villages resort in Texas in 1999, I acquired an older ENDLESS ESCAPE property for about 7000-plus dollars.
In the years I have lived in the USA, I have been able to use the "free days holidays' regularly"--until now. This year I have had trouble booking Silverleaf Endless escape holidays due to online booking options and practices now in effect.
Let me explain what Endless Escape is. It was a unique program offered by Silverleaf that allows owners to call in and book a resort for no charge (for up to 6 nights )when there were rooms available there one or two weeks in advance. in the past, I could put my name on a reserve or wait list for an opening at one of the 12 or 13 Silverleaf resorts situated nationwide (but many in Texas and Missouri).
Some years, I had 3, 4 or 4extra bonus weeks through the program. I also exchanged my week for RCI and used those exchanges to go to resorts in other countries.
Now, with no wait list and many new rules restricting usage[1] of ENDLESS ESCAPES in the wake of several court case settlements and main owner-operator changes, it is much more difficult for me to book on the years I live and travel stateside.
Meanwhile fees have tripled and are set to quadruple with Silverleaf. I have asked for relief on these fees as I am only in the USA every other year, but I have not been given a good offer from Silverleaf to reduce the fees.
On the positive side, I can see that Silverleaf uses the fees to develope itself and the resorts in a positive fashion in most cases--for example, adding pools and water park to my home resort.
See this page for crticism of Silverleaf which is stronger than mine here: http://silverleaf-resorts.pissedconsumer.com/silverleaf-endless-escape-very-very-seldem-avaliable-201212****6530.html
NOTES
[1] Originally, in 1999 when I joined, the rules for usage were six nights on and then one night off before booking again. Now, one has to wait an entire week following a settlement dating to about 2005-****. That settlement should have given me a week to use any time butfor one entire week but the offere ended after one year--and I lived abroad at the time
Reason of review: Both pricing issue and problem with delivery.
Monetary Loss: $500.
Preferred solution: both price reduction on annual fee and delivvery of usage on endless escape.
Silverleaf Resorts Pros: Facilities, Locations, Beautiful place.
Silverleaf Resorts Cons: Rooms not available, Would not take no for an answer.
Location: Flint, Texas

I agree...they purchased Silverleaf knowing there were Endless Escape contracts. We contractually should be grandfathered in.

Anyone know of any resolution or otherwise on this?
Well I took my Daughter to Chicago for his past weekend and we stayed at the Fox River resort. I was charged for my stay.
I was shocked. I explained I was a ENDLESS ESCAPE member and they told me about the new changes. I have not been able to go to any resorts for well over a year. I would like to be part of any lawsuit that is done to them over this.
I agree we should be grandfathered in.

Please add me in. I have had Endless Escape since 1998.
I do have my deeds and I never sold that property.
The new fees are too high. Can anyone help with this situation.
We have been screwed out of our endless escape now that holiday inn bought silverleaf. We owe nothing and paid 24,000 for what we own and now they are charging us.
We are grandfathered in. THEY CANT DO THIS. PLEASE.
INCLUDE US IN WHAT YOU FIND OR DO. MOM2KBUG69@***.COM THEY ARE STEALING FROM US!
Diana.antul@***.com If someone is actually starting a lawsuit, please include us. We just spent an hour on the phone explaining endless escapes and why they can't change it.
The contract they read to us over the phone just now was NOT the same contract we have in front of us.
We were promised that endless escapes would not change and that we were grandfathered in since we have owned prior to 2001...and now they're saying they can change the contract whenever they want. Ridiculous.
Please include us as well. We too are grandfathered in to endless escape and they wonโt allow us to use it Lisa 636-524-****
Include us as well! Grandfathered in and not allowed to use it. itsecuritygirl@***.com
We just found out we now have to pay 25.00 week days an 75.00 weekends (per day) for endless escapes. We have been members since early 90's.
If there is a class action suit, please include us.
