I "won" a trip. Ended up buying a timeshare and being an owner.

We were told if it didnt work out we could sell it back.. this was a lie. After our first payment we knew we made a mistake and they wouldn't help us nor did they care that we were given false information. Now we are stuck and expecting a baby.

We have great credit and don't know what to do about this burden... noone will call us back and no one has answers. Also, even though we cancelled our payments they will still automatically withdrawl from whatever card you put on file the day of signing the contract. DO NOT GET THIS!

YOU WILL REGRET IT! Things come up that are unexpected and most places try and help this is not one of them.

I have to choose whats more important rent? Or timeshare?

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Location: Gilmer, Texas

Close account that your credit card is linked to. Report to BBB.

Schedule an "owners meeting". They have likely called and harassed you about scheduling one.

Once there they will try to get you to upgrade. Do it. Your old contract is voided and you get a new contract that you have 6 days to cancel.

You'll also get a refund on any down payment you made on the new contract. There is a sellers right to cancel clause in the contract.

Please check the state laws in which you purchased. Sometimes, the laws state exactly how long you have to cancel something like this.

They are bound by this law. We had a friend who had the same problem with another resort and was able to cancel it despite what they told her.

Go on line and look up companies that help people get out of timeshares. Investigate to find a reliable one.

These companies review your sales process until they find a loophole. Laws regulating the sale of timeshares are very form intensive, requiring many disclosures, signing by purchaser, etc.

If one of these is not done, these companies help you seek rescission of your contract to purchase because the timeshare seller did not follow the law. Might be worth a look.
